On Record: architecture, advertising and the actions of Gina Pane (2004), co-authored with Françoise Masson, Artwords Press

Françoise Masson was the sole photographer of the Actions of artist Gina Pane which took place throughout the 1970s. In 2003, Masson and I recorded an interview in the context of her archive, in her home in Burgundy, France. Leafing through boxes relating to her photography of Pane, alongside boxes of her commercial or socially engaged photography, our conversation was shaped by the overspills between these extremely different contexts. This book centres on Masson’s experience as a female professional photographer in a male-dominated industry and included aspects of Masson’s production of her photographs of Gina Pane, such as the light tests taken in advance of the live action. Excerpts of the interview are included in Gina Pane: actions through time (2026), Routledge, co-edited with Sophie Delpeux.
